We are Laura and Dave Soutee, a family from the Midwest, blessed with three wonderful children. As parents, we grew increasingly concerned about the rising issue of plastic pollution in our environment. While we engaged in basic recycling and brought our own shopping bags, we felt we could do more. Upon reflecting on our daily habits, we recognized a significant shortcoming in the quality of the reusable bags we were using. These bags often deteriorated quickly, making them a poor alternative to single-use options as they frequently ended up in landfills.

We searched for high-quality, durable bags but were astonished to find none that met our needs in the marketplace. Thus, we decided to create our own. In 2017, we founded Colony Co., with the ambition of producing the best reusable bags in the world.
